OUR STORY…

We are an everyday normal family; a married couple with a thirteen-year-old daughter, who is living the American Dream. You know the American Dream of non-stop work “eight days a week”, and having very little time, if any, to enjoy the incredible world around us…Vacation has grown to become a bad word that seems to elude us at all costs.

In the beginning, we too saw the definition of adventure only in the likes of traveling the world to unbelievable destinations and doing even more unbelievably crazy things at those destinations, you know like hiking into the Waitomo Caves in New Zealand to see the thousands of glowworms that cling to the walls and illuminate these incredible thirty-million-year-old rock formations. How about paragliding over the extraordinary Chicamocha Canyon in San Gil, Columbia which involves running and jumping off a cliff to float down to the bottom of this 6,500 feet-deep natural wonder? If you are still hungry for adventure maybe you could visit the world’s most northerly town, Longyearbyen, located in the Arctic archipelago of Svalbard, Norway. 60% of the polar desert tundra is filled with glaciers that are perfect for trekking adventures, or you can snowmobile and dog sled past polar bears, arctic foxes, and puffins for a once-in-a-lifetime experience. YEA RIGHT!!!

Sure, these are adventures that might make the bucket list that most people, including us, will never cross off! There are millions of adventurous destinations such as those above mentioned around the world, but most people, again like us, cannot afford such trips, both monetarily and time-wise-arily.

Enter, Adventurous Road Trips. We discovered something very interesting if you just open your eyes, your mind, and most importantly, your imagination, a necessity when your thirteen-year-old is constantly saying, “can we please take a road trip somewhere, anywhere?” There is a ton of adventure all around us; it’s just how you perceive adventure. There is an adventure in and around your house. There’s an adventure on and around your deck. There’s an adventure to be found in the kitchen. And there is certainly adventure on road trips and excursions that in some cases are very close to where you live. Every city in this world, wherever you may call home, has sights and interesting places and things to see and do, you just must be creative, and adventurous and define adventure a whole different way.

At Adventurous Road Trips, our family is here to share our adventures with you, educate you on very cool things along the way, and show you how to experience the incredible world around us, even on a shoestring budget. Trust us, you DO NOT have to travel to Norway, Columbia, or New Zealand to see the amazing adventures this world has to offer; start in your backyard. Sure, going to places such as those would be an incredible adventure and kudos to those folks that can cross off destinations like that from their bucket list, but to the rest of us, we have to find, or should I say “make” adventure that is surrounding us in our immediate world. We also stress the “education” in our adventures. For all of you that don’t get to go and see or experience what we may, we want to not only virtually take you there, but to teach you something new, cool, and exciting that you might not have otherwise known. For every “where” there is always a “why”, a “how”, a “when” and a “who”. But most importantly, we want to be the inspiration for you to get out there and be adventurous.

So please join us on our adventurous road trips. Including but not limited to our food and cooking adventures, incredible historic adventures, as well as fun and exciting photography, or FUNtography (as we call it) adventures. We will keep things hot and fresh and deliver you awesome articles, tips and quips, great photographs and video clips, restaurant and lodging reviews, and a fantastic collection of our family’s adventurous happenings…it’ll be like riding along with us but you don’t have to pay for gas… ”We call shotgun”!
